Maulana Adam ibn Yusuf Lunat was born in Manekpore, Gujrat in 1937. His early education was at the Jame’ah Islamia, Dabhel, followed by seminary studies at the Darul Uloom, Deoband. He then served as an ‘alim and teacher at the Jame’ah in Dabhel for 5 years, and later in Malawi for 7 years. He settled in Leicester in November 1975, Among the institutions he established in the city include the Jame’ Mosque in 1977, the Muslim Girls High School (Leicester Islamic Academy), 1981 and the Jame’ah Uloom ul Qur’an for training Islamic scholars, where he taught the science of hadith. He also founded the khanqah Muhammad Zakariya.
