20th May 2023 Connecting with cultural heritage

An Historic England funded project carried out by Art Concern seeks to address a lacuna: “the importance of young people’s engagements with heritage is rarely brought into conversation with regards to key policy agendas such as mental health and wellbeing, inequality and, more recently, so-called ‘left behind’ places and Levelling Up. It is therefore unclear as to precisely what policy contributions are afforded by heritage in these areas.” The project report presents case studies demonstrating how young persons have engaged in heritage projects, including one involving the Yemeni community in Liverpool that shared migration experiences and explored the contribution of Yemeni cultural heritage in shaping the city today. click here.
