Al-Imdaad Foundation

Robert Hardman of the Daily Mail looks at ‘the generous, brave and compassionate acts to come out of devastating Storm Desmond floods’, adding:

‘Having provided disaster relief as far afield as Pakistan and Afghanistan, Cumbria has been a relatively short hop for the volunteers of the Al-Imdaad Foundation, an Islamic charity from Blackburn. Few in these parts had heard of the organisation until this week. Now its teams are a very welcome presence in towns such as Carlisle and Keswick where they have been offering food, fresh water and manpower to anyone who wants it. In recent days, they have also accompanied homeowners returning to their ruined homes for the first time since the floods. ‘A lot of people have been decorating their homes for Christmas and have been literally crying on our shoulders,’ says volunteer Sufyaan Valimulla, 23. The Al-Imdaad teams have taken time off work to be here. A further 60 Muslim volunteers will arrive this weekend. Donald Trump, take note.’ click here.
