2 May 2023 Local Elections & a Muslim ‘manifesto’

On Thursday 4th May 2023, local elections will be taking place in the following authorities in England,

  • 152 District authorities
  • 46 Unitary authorities
  • 32 Metropolitan districts

in 2022, about 440 councillors of Muslim heritage were elected, as reported in The Muslim News: ” At least 70 per cent of councils in England had at least one Muslim candidate contesting for a ward seat on May 5. Over 1,130 Muslim candidates ran in local elections in England, of which 296 men and 147 women successfully secured council seats”. Will the numbers top 5oo in 2023?
