Karamat Ali

An Indian reformer. Karamat studied theology under Shah Abudl Aziz, and he became one of the most devoted followers of Syed Ahmad Brelvi who died in 1831. Karamat organised the Muslims of Bihar and Bengal for the revival of Islam. Karamat fought against the Hindu customs and practices, which had crept into the Muslims. To this object he wrote two books called Radd al Bidda and Hidayat al Rafizin. He wrote mainly in Urdu and his famous books are Miftah al Jannat, Bai Ati Tawba, Zinat al Qari, Fiza I Amm, Nur al Huda, Makashfat I Rahmat, Zad al Toqwa, and Hujjat I Qatia. Karamat Ali was born at Jaunpur.
