Ihsan Bey Toptani
Journalist and political activist.
Ihsan was the last direct male descendant of the great Toptani family who dominated the Albanian capital for 150 years, and the last living man to hold the rank of Ottoman bey.
Ihsan who was born in Tirana had a prominent role in the Second World War. He was champion of his country's freedom.
Ihsan Bey suffered from leukaemia and died in London where he resided and was considered a doyen of the Albanian community for the last 40 years.
