Sultan Idris Ibn Raja Iskander

Birth:1849

Death:1916

Sultan of Perak, Malaya. Idris succeeded to the throne in 1887 and ruled till 1916, only 13 years after the British had declared Malaya as a protectorate. Idris was an enlightened monarch who established Malay College to provide English education and Sultan Idris Training College for educating the teachers. Idris respected all the communities as he had recognised his state as multi-racial.
