He ascended the throne of Ahmad Nagar in Deccan in 1554.
Hussain Nizam Shah formed an alliance with Ali Adil Shah of Bijapur, Ibrahim Qutb Shah of Golkanda and Amir Barid of Ahmadabad against Ram Raj, the Raja of Vijaynagar, who had become a menace to the neighbouring Muslim states of Deccan. and defeated him and thus created Muslim supremacy over the south of India.
With the creation of Muslim supremacy over the south of India that happened in 1565, and only eleven days after this expedition, he died.
