An author and teacher of the Sufi tradition Idries Shah, also known as Idris Shah, né Sayed Idries el-Hashimi and by the pen name Arkon Daraul, was an author and teacher in the Sufi tradition who wrote over three dozen books on topics ranging from psychology and spirituality to travelogues and culture studies. He went on to write more than thirty books on Sufism, selling over 15m copies in more than three dozens languages. His book The Sufis was described as 'a seminal book of the century' by The Washington Post. Now the Idries Shah Foundation is bringing out new editions in English and commissioning translations of his work into Persian, Arabic and Urdu. Idries Shah was born in Shimla, India and passed away in London.
