Bangladeshi novelist With her first novel, 'A Golden Age' (2007) Tahmima Anam's book distinguished her as a young novelist writing resonantly about ruptures of war. Her research into the Bangladeshi liberation war of 1971 and its emotional aftershocks included testimonies from her own freedom-fighters parents. These accounts were woven into her second novel 'A Good Muslim' (2011), with as much power and lyricism. Her third novel 'The Bones of Grace' (2016) deals with the question of identity caught between two cultures and two men. Her first novel, A Golden Age won a Commonwealth Writers' Prize and was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award. Her second, The Good Muslim, was long-listed for the 2011 Man Asian Literary Prize. Educated in the US and studied anthropology at Harvard Tahmima Anam later completed an MA in creative writing in London. Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, into an illustrious literary family, Tahmima Anam grew up in Paris, New York and Bangkok and since 2004 has lived in London.
