YouTube professor to millions around the world. An American educator and the founder of the Khan Academy, a free online education platform Salman Khan is a world-class tutor and pioneer for the digital age. His video-driven teaching method has produced over 3000 videos elucidating a wide spectrum of academic subjects, mainly focusing on mathematics and the sciences. As an innovator Salman's aspiration is to give every kid a chance at a free, world-class education. The Khan Academy channel on YouTube attracts many thousands of subscribers. Based at Silicon Valley he practices exercises send students back to the pertinent video when they are having trouble. Time magazine, in 2012, named Salman Khan, a former hedge-fund manager, in its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. 600 Million exercises have been completed (more than 2 million per day); 15,000 classrooms in which Khan Academy is used in some form; 5 million unique users per month; 160 million videos have been watched since 2006; and 234 countries and territories where Khan Academy is used, according to Time magazine, July 2012. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Bengali parents - father from Barisal and mother from Kolkata and is known as 'Sal' Khan. He holds three degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology: a BS in mathematics, in electrical engineering and computer science as well MS' in electrical engineering and computer science. He also holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
