Sindhi poet The renowned poet of Sindhi language Sheikh Ayaz authored nearly seventy-five books, of which more than fifty have been published so far. He composed fiery mystic and humanistic poetry and wrote unique prose for almost half a century. Saving life on earth and awakening humanity for its own welfare remained the theme of the bulk of his poetry. He made significant contributions to Sindhi language and literature. The Urdu translation of the Sindhi epic Shah Jo Risalo is one of his great contributions. His poetry has been translated into major languages including English, French and Russian along with the regional languages of Pakistan. A lawyer by profession, Sheikh Ayaz also served as the vice chancellor of Sindh University.
