Harbinger of a new age A man who embraced and promoted modernity and the scientific outlook, at the time, Khan-e-Allama Nawab Tafazzul Hussain Khan was acknowledged as the harbinger of a new age and was given the high accolade. His expertise in the rational (Mathematics and Astronomy) and theological sciences (fiqh and kalâm) apart Khan was fluent in English, Greek, Latin, Farsi and Arabic. He translated Newton's works from Latin in Arabic, among dozens others, and authored some original writings in different fields. Hailing from Kashmiri ancestry, Tufazzal Hussain Khan was based in Sialkot, then in undivided India.
