An Indian scientist devoting his life to saving sparrow. The former lecturer in environmental studies Muhammad Dilawar is dedicating himself to saving the sparrow and warning that its disappearance is an ominous sign. Using his own money and working from his home in Nasik, Dilawar runs a project to preserve what he believes is one of India's most threatened birds - house sparrow once so ubiquitous across India that it appears in folktales and songs. He has started out by conducting a nationwide survey of the sparrow population - an ambitious project that will take years to complete.
