Urdu poet Mohsin who made his mark in poetry with ghazals started composing verses from 1948. He later migrated to Pakistan. He had the distinction of being Pakistan's first Urdu poet to write Haiko. Late Tanvir Abbasi, one of the most powerful Sindhi poets of modern times, brought Haiko in Pakistan and Mohsin translated his Sindhi Haikos into Urdu in 1963 and later composing verses in Haiko. Mohsin set another trend in Urdu poetry with Nazmaney - a form improvised by him. Apart from poetry, Mohsin authored 'Hairaton Ki Sarzamin', a travelogue of America and 'Qaumi Yekjehti Mein Adab Ka Kirdar'. In his book of verses, 'Shahr-I-Ashob', he opposed the 1992 military operation in Karachi. Born in Bhopal Mohsin died of pneumonia in Karachi.
