Advocate for British Muslim community. A behavioural specialist with a doctorate from King's College London, Abdul Bari has been elected, in 2006, secretary general of the umbrella organisation 'Muslim Council of Britain', established in 1996. His is a crucial voice in helping Muslims navigate between the conflicting social and religious pressure of the time. Dr Bari's varied activities include being chair of the East London Mosque, being a member of the Inner Cities Religious Council, sits on the Greater London Authority's Faith Advisory Group and involved in the Islamic Forum Europe and Battersea Mosque. He is also on the organising committee for the 2012 Olympic Game in London. Muhammad Abdul Bari who was born in Bangladesh was awarded an MBE in 2003.
