Pakistan's noted writer and columnist. Mirza Hasan Askari started his career in Indian army's public relation section and after the end of the World War II joined The Statesman, Delhi and followed by the Dawn, Delhi, as a senior reporter. Hasan Askari migrated to Pakistan and worked with Radio Pakistan's news department for several years before joining Inter-Services Public Relations. In 1972, he was posted as press counsellor at the Pakistan embassy in Paris and later was minister for press at the high commission in New Delhi. When Hasan Askari settled in Karachi in 1980, he renewed his association with the Dawn as a columnist then as assistant editor. Even after he left the Dawn, he continued to write a weekly column for the paper. Hasan Askari was a founder member of the Pakistan Writers Guild. Mirza Hasan Askari was born in Delhi.
