Author, poet and statesman Of the sixty works that Khatib wrote on history, medicine, philosophy and geography, only one third survived. The most important was Al Ihatah fi Akhbar Garnata an exclusive history of Granada. Khatib was vizier at the Nasirid Court, and hence his title Zulwizaratayan given by Nasirid Sultan Yusuf al-Hajjaj. Khatib's family migrated from Syria to Spain.
