Ibrahim Efendi Halilovic
Mufti Ibrahim became a senior Imam of the 16th-century UNESCO-listed Ferhadija mosque in Banja Luka. After having gained a degree in Arabic language and literature at Belgrade University he became Mufti of the Bosanska Krajina in 1988 with supervision over more than 200 Imams in the region.
Mufti Ibrahim suffered when the war broke out in 1992. He was a vocal advocate of forgiveness, peace and reconciliation.
Ibrahim Efendi Halilovic was born in a village near Tuzla. He graduated from Gazi Husrev-beg Islamic school in Sarajevo in 1967. He died of sudden heart attack.
