Ibn Bajjah

He was the earliest known representative in Spain of the Arabic Aristotation Neoplatonic philosophical tradition. Ibn Bajjah's most important work was Tadbir al Mutawahhid. He also wrote a treatise on botany and was well known for his knowledge of astronomy, medicine and mathematics. His summaries of Aristotle on a variety of subjects have survived but most of them have remained unpublished. Ibn Bajjah was known as Avempace in the west and many scholars considered him to be an atheist. Abu Baker Muhammad Ibn Yahya al Andlasi al Sargusti (his full name) was born in Spain.
