Islamic scholar. Professor Abdur Rahman's academic career took him to Nigeria, Malaysia and South Africa. He held the position of honorary professor at Universitas Islamica, Italy, and visiting professor to University of Bayreuth, Germany and University of Bordeaux, France. He believed in 'the healthy growth and harmonious life in a multi-religious society.' prof Doi was also involved in Da'wah activities. He authored several books and was member of many academic organisations in many parts of the world. Abdur rahman Doi was born in Himmatnagar, Gujarat and died in Madras in India of liver ailment.
