The Turkish journalist.
Sinasi was known as the founding father of Turkish journalism. His major contribution to Turkish intellectual life was the journal Tasvir-i-efkar founded by him in 1862, the first newspaper to criticise the government, a trend that proved as an example to the 'young Turks'.
Sinasi advocated the use of pure Turkish words devoid of Arabic and Persian vocabulary. Earlier he spent his time in France and learned French.
