An Indian nationalist Muslim and freedom fighter. Maulana Shaukat Ali the elder brother of Maulana Muhammad Ali founded (1919) and presided over Khilafat committee's annual session (1923). He led the boycott of the Simon Commission. Maulana Shaukat Ali, a committed and sincere worker of Muslim cause and a great freedom fighter, helped Gandhi along with his brother to win Muslims support but he later broke with Congress over position of Muslims in independent India. Maulana Shaukat Ali served as trustee and later as President of the Aligarh College Board.
