Muhammad Natsir

Birth:1908

Death:1993

An Indonesian journalist and politician. Natsir was fluent both in Dutch and English. He played an active part in Indonesian politics from 1920 to 1958. He was attached to a Muslim-led insurrection in Sumatra from 1958 to 1961 and was jailed between 1962 and 1966. After his release he devoted rest of his life to writing and preaching. He wrote more than ninety books.
