Nahhas Pasha

Birth:1876

Death:1965

An Egyptian leader who figured dominantly in the Egyptian politics until the revolution of 1952. After World War I Nahhas Pasha joined the nationalist Wafd party and was its chairman in 1927. He was the prime minister of Egypt for five times, first in 1928 then again in 1929. He resigned in 1930 after differences with King Fuad's death in 1936. The new King Farouq disagreed with his politics and dismissed him in 1937. He was once again prime minister in 1942, but was again sacked by Farouq in 1944. His final term in office began in 1950, but was again dismissed by the king in 1952, because of his strong anti- British campaign.
