Muhammad Bin Tughlaq

Birth:

Death:1351

The son of Ghiyasuddin Tughlaq, the founder of Tughalq dynasty that replaced the Khiliji rule in Delhi. Tughlaq was crowned in 1325. His reign was marred by rebellions: Deccan in 1326, Malabar 1334, Bengal 1338, Gujrat 1345 and Sind in 1350. Partly due to these rebellions and partly because he wanted Muslim's influence in the south of India, he moved his capital from Delhi to Daultabad, south India. This move and his introduction of copper currency, both proved a setback to his regime. Though he was a learned man he had in his personality numerous contradictions.
