Mohsin Ul Mulk

The title of Syed Mehdi Ali, who really proved a Mohsin for Aligarh College. After his 22 years of service to Nizam of Hyderabad, Mohsin settled in Aligarh in 1893 and after Sir Syed Ahamd's death worked as the Secretary of Aligarh College. During his tenure the annual income of the college was doubled and the number of students nearly trebled. When on 18th April 1900 the Government of the United Provinces passed the order about the use of Hindi in government offices instead of Urdu, Mohsin organised an Urdu Defence Association. Mohsin was one of the founding fathers of All India Muslim League. He along with Viqar-ul-Mulk drafted the Constitution of Muslim League when it was founded in 1906 at Dacca. He was also instrumental in getting Muslim representatives elected to Legislative Councils through separate electoral colleges.
