Firoz Khan


Skilful hockey player who helped India to win Olympic gold in 1928. Khan won his gold medal at the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam. His speed and versatility set the standard for India's dominance at the game as they collected six successive gold medals between 1928 and 1956. Feroz retired in 1938 and moved to Pakistan after it was carved out of India on 14 August 1947, after independence from British rule. Feroz Khan was born in Jalandhar, India, and started playing hockey using a tree branch.
