6 September 2021 Multi-generational households and dementia – a connection?

A report from the Office for National Statistics drawing on mortality data in England & Wales notes that “Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease are leading causes of death in the general population and featured in the five most common causes for most ethnic groups and for both sexes [. . .] the age-standardised mortality rate for the Pakistani ethnic category was 66.4 compared to 121.6 for the White ethnic category”. click here.

Could this be because of the tradition for caring for the elderly in a family setting, so more social interaction etc in multi-generation Pakistani households? click here.
