We were driving and stopped by a roundabout when suddenly a group of children as young as my daughter came up to our car in dirty clothes begging for money, saying “Cha cha, muje roti chaye”, which means “Uncle, I want bread.” When I looked into their eyes, they looked older than their years, their childhood taken away by having to desperately find money for food to stay alive . . .
