In a politically motivated decision, the Sudan University of Science and Technology has summarily dismissed without legal grounds the veteran scientist
Professor Izzeldin Mohamed Osman, former Vice Chancellor of the university (1994-2002) and current Emeritus Professor of Computer Science. Professor Osman is widely credited with modernizing the Sudan University of Science and Technology and recognised as a renowned scholar who laid the foundations of computer science education and information technology in the Sudan.
