Salaam Books – Terms and Conditions of business
These terms and conditions apply to the use of this website and by accessing it and/or placing an order you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions set out below.
When you register with the Salaam website, together with other data, you will be asked to choose a contact e-mail address and password. You are responsible for all sessions and transactions undertaken using these details. You should keep your password safe and not disclose it to anyone. You should change it immediately if you feel it has been compromised.
If any of your details change you must inform Salaam as soon as possible. You may update your details by signing into your account on the Salaam website.
We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998).
a. Any contract for purchases made through the Salaam website will be with Afkar Consulting Ltd (henceforth referred to as Afkar Ltd) , whose registered office is situated at 38A Station Road, North Harrow, Middlesex, HA2 7SE, company registration number 04962054
b. When you place an order to purchase a product we will send you an e-mail confirming receipt of your order (the ‘order confirmation email’) and containing its details.
c. A second e-mail will be sent to you once we despatch the goods (the ‘confirmation of despatch email’). A contract shall only be made once we despatch the goods to you and confirm this by e-mail. Acceptance will be deemed complete once we have sent this ‘confirmation of despatch’ e-mail to the e-mail address you provided (whether or not you receive that e-mail.)
d. Customers within the EU are entitled to cancel an order within 7 days of receipt of our order confirmation email without any penalty, so long as the goods have not been despatched by us. If the goods have been despatched then these must be returned with an accompanying ‘Returns Authorisation Form’ within 7 days of goods being received. A full refund of cost of goods will be then be made so long as the returned items remain in their original condition. No refund will be made if the returned goods have been soiled or damaged and neither will your postage costs be refunded.
Once you have notified us that you are withdrawing your order, any sum debited to Afkar Ltd from your credit card will be re-credited to your account as soon as possible and in any event within 30 days of your order. Your postage costs will not be reimbursed.
e. Afkar Ltd is entitled to withdraw from any contract in the case of obvious errors or inaccuracies regarding the goods appearing on our website. If an error or inaccuracy is discovered with regards to the advertised price of the goods that you have ordered, we will contact you as soon as possible by e-mail. This will be to inform you of the correct price of the goods, and to ask you if you wish to continue with the order at the amended price, or to cancel the order altogether.
f. Afkar Ltd reserves the right to amend prices on the website. An order will be priced using the prices effective at the time of shopping.
Returns – damaged goods
In the unlikely event of the goods you receive being damaged then returns must be made within 7 days of receipt and accompanied with a ‘Returns Authorisation Form’ (click here). Based on the information you provide us on the Form, the item will either be exchanged or you will be refunded the value of the order less the delivery charges. Providing goods are genuinely faulty, we will also reimburse your postage costs, up to a maximum of £5.
As part of our security checks to protect genuine card holders, we may request authorisation from your card provider for an amount not exceeding the value of your order. In the event that we reject your offer to purchase or we accept your request to cancel this order please note that it may take several days before your card provider cancels this authorisation.
Availability of goods
If we have insufficient stock to deliver the goods ordered by you, we will notify you as soon as possible and any sum debited by Afkar Ltd from your credit card will be re-credited to your account and we will notify you by email at the address given by you in your order form. The refund will be made as soon as possible and in any event within 30 days of your order. Afkar Ltd will not be obliged to offer any additional compensation for disappointment suffered.
Delivery to you
a. We will post, or arrange a courier on your behalf, for the goods ordered by you to the person and address you give us at the time you make your order. For goods delivered outside of the EU, the consignee (i.e. the person to whom the consignment is sent) will be the declarant and importer into the country for which the consignment is destined. The consignee will be responsible for both customs clearance and payment of customs duties and local taxes where required.
b. Delivery is by Royal Mail. Orders up to 1kg will be dispatched to you by Royal Mail Packet First Class (delivered the next working day) and those above this weight as Royal Mail Standard Parcel (delivered within 3 to 5 days after posting).
c. Delivery will be made as soon as possible after your order is. All delivery times quoted on the web site are estimates only, based on availability, normal processing and delivery companies.
a. Afkar Ltd does not accept liability for any indirect loss, consequential loss, loss of data, loss of income or profit, loss of damage to property and/or loss from claims of third parties arising out of the use of the website or for any products or services purchased from it.
b. It also reserves the right to change information, prices, specifications and terms and conditions on the website.
c. Afkar Ltd shall have no liability (including liability for negligence) for the acts or omissions of telecommunications service providers or for failures of, or faults in their networks and equipment.
You agree fully to indemnify, defend and hold us, and our officers, directors, employees, agents and suppliers, harmless immediately on demand, from and against all claims, liability, damages, losses, costs and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of any breach of the Conditions by you or any other liabilities arising out of your use of this Website, or the use by any other person accessing the Website using your shopping account and/or your Personal Information
The conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England. Your statutory rights are not affected by any of the above.
