Khalid was largely responsible for the defeat of the Muslim at the battle of Uhad, but after accepting Islam in 629, he led the Muslims on many battles against the Kufars. He was the chief of army of the early campaigns in Iran, Iraq, and Syria and captured Damascus. At the battle of yarmuk and Mota he led the Muslim army to victory.
Besides winning decisive battles at ‘Marj Rahit’ and Ajnadayn, his sword won the ‘riddah’ wars and thus united the Arab peninsula.
Khalid was Governor of Syria and died in Hams.
