Sa’d Ibn Abi Waqqas was one of the oldest companions of the Prophet (PBUH) and one of the ten who were promised paradise.
Sa’d who was considered to be one of the most courageous Arabs and horsemen took part in the battles of Badr and Uhud and were the conqueror of Iran and Iraq. The great battle at al-Qadisiya (637) was won under his command. The Sasanian monarch Yedejird had to abandon his capital Median, which Sa’d made his headquarters.
Sa’d was appointed as the Governor and Commander of Army of Iraq and he set out to build Kufa and established the foundations of Islam in wide broad lands.
