| Biographical detail : | Ottoman grand Vizier from 1523 to 1536 during the reign of Sulayman I (1520-66).
Ibrahim re-established Ottoman authority in Egypt in 1524 and was appointed Commander in chief during the siege of Vienna in 1526, 1529 and 1532. In 1533 he negotiated with Charles V over the Hungarian issue and as a result Hungary became a tributary to the Ottoman.
In 1534 in a war with the Saffavids of Iran, he captured Tabrez. Five months later Baghdad was occupied.
Afraid of Ibrahim growing power, it is believed , Sulayman had him murdered. |
