|Biographical detail : ||The eldest son of Hazrat Umar.
He was born several years before Hijra. He fought all the battles of the Prophet (PBUH). He also participated in 642 in the battle of Nihawand. In 650 he marched to Tabristan under the command of Said Bin al-As. In 669 he took part in an expedition against the Byzantine. He was held in great esteem by the Muslims of his time and took a neutral position in the dispute between Hazrat Ali and Amir Muawiya, without himself making any claim to the caliphate. He was also esteemed as one of the most trust worthy authorities on Hadis.
