Fyzee served as Indian ambassador to Egypt and also as the vice Chancellor of Jammu and Kashmir University.
Fyzee was awarded India’s Padma Bhusan in 1962.
Fyzee’s most famous work was Outline of Muhammadan Law. He believed in bringing Islamic law into conformity with the needs and realities of modern age.
Fyzee who was educated at Cambridge where he received a double first in oriental languages, married the writer, Sultana Asaf Fyzee, daughter of Qazi Kabiruddin.
