Name :Mehdi Ben Barka

Biographical detail : The Moroccan revolutionary leader, whose murder in Paris, being exiled there, caused a crisis for Charles de Gaulle, the French President.

Ben Barka founded the National Union of popular forces in 1959 and when Algeria and Morocco had a war in 1963, Ben Barka sided with Algeria. He was accused of a plot against king Hasan II and was exiled.

In 1965, he disappeared in Paris and could not be traced. It was rumoured that the Moroccan Minister of interior, with the help of the French intelligence, was involved in this murder.
