A well-known Urdu poet 'Nassakh', was his brother. He was the first Muslim to be the member of the Bengal Legislative Council in 1862. One of his granddaughters married A.K. Fazlul Haq. Another was married to Hasan Suharwardy, the father of Begum Shaistah Ikramullah. Due to his efforts the legacy of Muhammad Mohsin was converted into a trust fund to pay two thirds of the fees of any Muslim student in any English school or college in Bengal.
