| Biographical detail : | He was the nephew and son-in-law of Jalaluddin Khilji, whom he murdered in 1296 and ascended to the throne in Delhi. He proved himself to be an able administrator and though uneducated, he patronised poets like Khusru, Hasan Sajzi and learned persons and Sufis like Maulana Badurddin Damishqi and Shaikh Nizamuddin Auliya. |
