Anwar Kazi a Sufi mystic from Gujarat symbolised a fountainhead of Hindu-Muslim cultural and religious unity. He longed unity with Allah and hence he preached to the people of the Supreme Reality.
Anwar Kazi went to hajj pilgrimage to Mecca in 1887. On his return his humble abode was in the locality of the Harijans, downtrodden castes of the Hindus.
Anwar Kazi was born in Visnagar in Gujarat. After his death his follower Nawab Sher Muhammad Khanji of Palanpur built a grand mausoleum in his memory, and to date the place is still visited and venerated by both Muslims and Hindus.
