Biographical detail : Politician.

The former Egyptian Foreign Minister who was the key player during a crucial and sensitive juncture of Middle Eastern history when in 1977 Sadat took a bold initiative to make peace between Egypt and Israel. He resigned at Camp David in the wake of the historical peace accords between Egypt and Israel in 1978. In his memoirs, The Lost Peace Of The Camp David Accords (1984) he denounced the accords for failing short of guaranteeing Palestinian rights, including the right to self-determination.

In his early days he belonged to anti-British group for the independence of Egypt.

He was ambassador to West Germany for ten years and later became the first chairman of Egyptian Organisation For Human Rights.

Kamel a courteous man with a great command of detail was born in the region of Cairo.
