Tahmasp I enthroned in 1525, after the death of his father Shah Ismail, the founder of the dynasty. His reign was marked by wars with Ottoman Empire in 1534, 1538 and 1543. Peace, however, was concluded with Turkey in 1555.
Tahmasp I gave refuge to the Moghul king of India, Humayoon, who enjoyed his hospitality for about ten years. |
