| Biographical detail : | A Chief of the Baghdad Hospital.
In 931 Sinan was ordered by the Caliph al Muqtadir to examine all physicians and grant certificates only to those who satisfied him. Only 860 passed the test in Baghdad.
The hospital in Baghdad was the first in the Muslim world and was created by Harun Rashid (early 9th century) and was named Bimaristan. Like druggists the physicians were also required to submit to a test. |
