Sauda’s Qasedas and Ghazals on various subjects are excellent. He wrote an eulogy on Richard Johnson, and Asifuddullah and many other nobles of his time. His Hajw (satires) created him many enemies.
Sauda was a pupil of Sirajuddin Ali Khan Arzu and used to get a stipend of Rupees 6,000 a year from Nawab Asafuddaula, his patron king.
Sauda who was born Mirza Muhammad Rafi died at Lucknow.
