Biographical Data :

Name :Salman Al Farsi
Period :568 - 644
Biographical detail : The seeker after Truth.

Salman al-Faarisi, a long-legged man with flowing hair, left his home, in Iran, in search of the Prophet (PBUH) who, he was told, would revive the religion of Abraham and came to Madinah where he met Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

The most notable event in his life was the ‘Battle of the Ditch’ in 627. He was the one, who suggested digging of a trench in the exposed places around Madinah as a form of defence. This strategy was unknown to the Arabs, but he being an Iranian had much experience in warfare and its tactics in his native country. The Muslims all over the world give him special respect because of his closeness to the Prophet (PBUH).
