Name :Yaqub Ibn Leys Saffar
Period :840 - 879
Biographical detail : The founder of the Saffarids dynasty of Iran.

Saffar was a coppersmith. He took control of Sistan around 866 and by 869 extended his authority into North East India, adding Kabul, Makran, Kerman and Fars, with the annexation of Kharasan in 873.

Saffar dared to march against Baghdad but was defeated in 876 by Caliph Al Mutamid.
