|Biographical detail : ||An Iranian historian.
Mir Khwand spent most of his life in the court of Hussain Bayqrah, the last Timuried Sultan. Ali Shir Navai, the celebrated minister of the Sultan was his patron. At his request Mirkhwand wrote Rowzat os Safa, which composed seven large volumes of the history of the early kings of Iran and gave an account of the Muslim rulers up to 1523, along with a geographical index, which was considered as the eighth volume. This work was translated into English in 1832 – “no oriental work that stood higher in public estimation than this”.
