Khashoggi got business contract to sell trucks to Saudi Arabian Army in 1956, became sales agent for various car companies including Rolls-Royce and finally he came to prominence with the oil boom in mid 1970s.
Khashoggi was arrested in Bern over illegal property deals in 1989, but was acquitted in 1990.
Khashoggi was reported to have paid $500 million as divorce settlement to his then wife Soraya. |
