The main event features Contender Winner Brother Anthony (Abdul Huq) Small displaying his slick boxing skills in a 3 round sparring exhibition against local boxer Brother Wasim Ilyas. Ranked 15th in the world, with 18 wins out of 19 contests Small is hotly tipped as a future world champion, Insha’Allah. Special guests include Brother Danny Williams the former British & Commonwealth Heavyweight champion, who famously stopped Mike Tyson in the fourth round. The show will have more than 10 further bouts showcasing the boxing skills of brothers from across the UK and will also include a small talk on the importance of health & fitness in Islam. Hosted by a former professional boxer and now the youngest ever Muslim boxing promoter, Brother Spencer (Musa) Feron this promises to be an event not to be missed. Food and drink will also be available to purchase on the day and all proceeds are to be given to charity

The Islamic Human Rights Commission’s conference looks at both projects in a critical and contemporary light. They will be joined by IHRC researchers who will present brief overviews of aspects of international human rights norms such as: freedom of movement, the right to life, land and water and global progress towards the universalisation of these rights. Our main speakers will be: Jennifer Loewenstein from the University of Wisconsin, discussing her experiences in Gaza in the aftermath of extrajudicial killings Meir Margalit from Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions, addressing the issue of house demolitions Yehudit Keshet from Checkpoint Watch, on the operation of checkpoints and the paralysis of movement for Palestinians Daud Abdullah from the Palestinian Return Centre on refugee rights Michael Warschawski on the problem of the right of self-determination and its realization as chauvinistic nationalism in state form.
